So. Confession time. Marriage is hard with a baby. I was warned about this during my pregnancy from my friends who had been through it. In fact, at my baby shower my sweet friends all wrote me a little book on “parenthood,” and the #1 theme was to make sure we occasionally make time for ourselves to keep our marriage fresh. And you know what? We haven’t. It’s been almost year and the hubs and I have been on ONE date. ONE.
That’s hard on a relationship! We both work full-time and have high-stress jobs (I’m a nurse and the hubs runs his own electrical company). We come home, eat dinner, get Landon ready for bed, and pass out. And we love that little man of ours so much that he comes before any “us” time, naturally. My mom guilt hits hard when I think of leaving him with a babysitter anymore than I already do. I feel selfish and like a bad parent for wanting some alone time. But I know that’s not the case, at all, and there’s nothing wrong with wanting a date night to keep that spark in our marriage.
Anyways, this is the perfect sweatshirt to drop a subtle hint that we need a date night. Which will probably involve some Froyo and an On Demand movie that i’ll pass out half way into. But hey, at least we’re making a small effort, right? 🙂
Mommy friends out there, how do you make date nights work for you?
Also, I’m excited to be collaborating with Recycled Consign and Design throughout the next few posts! Amanda’s hand-picked boutique offers the latest trends in clothing and accessories, and even some home decor! I love her mantra of bringing new life to an old piece, and hello, we know I believe in the same!. Be sure to check her out!
I’m pregnant with my first baby, so I’ll find out – soon enough – how difficult it can be to make quality, date-night time. 🙂 I’d probably be the same way, when it comes to hiring a baby-sitter. But I also know it’s so important to have date nights. Phew, balance can be hard! (As for your sweatshirt, I LOVE it!!!). 🙂
