Landon’s One Year Photoshoot June 27, 2014
If you’ve been a follower for some time here, then Tiffany Farley’s work is not new to you. While all of our shoots with her hold a special place in my heart, this one had a little more meaning.
The first year of raising a child is difficult. At least, for me. I have a type A personality, I like to have control, I don’t handle a lot of stress very well, and I really don’t like it when things don’t go my way (<–I sound fun, don’t I?) A baby makes it so you can’t be any of those things. Finally accepting that was a huge realization for me. I won’t spend time here going into specifics, but this little guy of mine has really changed the way I view things. And while I still have a tendency to be all of those things previously stated, I’ve been able to let go and not freak out when things don’t go according to plan. I’ve learned to go with the flow.
Getting to that one year mark is like crossing a finish line that leads to another starting line. Does that make sense? At one year, I felt like We did it! We make it one whole year of being parents! We made it through sleepless nights, awful breastfeeding issues, changing nap schedules, transitioning to solids, learning to smile/crawl/walk/”talk,” and really just being chronically sleep deprived for one whole year. All while working and maintaining a home. And pumping, for me. It’s all a huge accomplishment. Especially for two people who had no experience baby-sitting or caring for a child whatsoever (ask our friends, we refused to hold any babies because we were afraid to drop them.). We did it, and we did it together. And we have this adorable little guy as proof, which is always the best reward. 🙂 And now, we start another year all over again where more memories will be made and learning experiences will be had. This is, by far, the best journey we have ever been on.
Today I’m sharing some of my favorite photos from his shoot. Outfit details are at the end of the post!
