Tips on Looking Great Even When You Feel Like a Zombie October 17, 2014

There’s something that happens when you become a parent. No matter how well your child sleeps through the night, you are ALWAYS tired. Always. I’ve been sleeping 7-8 hours a night since Landon was 12 weeks old and I still am exhausted all the time. How is this possible? Why? Will I ever feel 100% well rested ever again? Maybe, when he’s 18.
As if my under eye circles weren’t bad enough, becoming a mom did me in on any hope I had for my raccoon eyes. While I will always need concealer, I’m always looking for an under eye product that eliminates some of the puffiness and darkness without having to cake on makeup. If that product decreases the amount of time in my morning routine by eliminating a step, it’s a double bonus.
Can you relate? Maybe you’re a new mom who forgot what sleep feels like? Or maybe you’re a college student pulling all-nighters studying for exams? Whatever may be causing your lack of sleep, this post is for you. Here are my tips on looking great even when I feel like a walking zombie:
1. Coffee. Tea. Something caffeinated. I never used to drink coffee until I had my son. And while I don’t drink a lot (maaaaaybe a half cup?), it’s enough to give me a little morning jolt to get moving.
2. I wash my face and brush my teeth immediately when I wake up. I think that splash of water you always see in commercials really helps, especially if it’s a little cold for your liking.
3. I apply Olay Fresh Effects {Bright On Schedule!} Eye Awakening Cream. This eye cream is my new favorite go to product. The little roller balls help massage the cream into my under eye area, and it gives me the look of instant beauty sleep, no sleep required. Many products in the Fresh Effects line are infused with essence of honeysuckle and white tea – a detox recipe that gives skin a refreshed look in order to face the day, from late nights to early mornings.
4. I eat breakfast. With protein. Lots of protein. Protein really gives me the energy I need to make it through the morning until lunch time. I avoid carbs at all cost because those just make me hungry about an hour later and cause me to crash. My usual go-to breakfast is 1 whole egg and 2 egg whites with some bacon and fruit. Plus coffee. 🙂
5. Last, I set the pace for my day. The longer I drag my feet, the slower I move. The slower I am to get out the door. The more likely I am to be late. If I start my morning out poorly, chances are the rest of my day will follow in the same footsteps! I try to stay on schedule (as a working mom, everything is scheduled….breakfast at this time, get dressed at this time, etc.) so I can keep on track. This is huge!
