Most of you who follow along here know I work as a visiting nurse, meaning I care for patients inside of their homes. There are many pros and cons of this job. A pro: the incredible flexibility I have (I’m always home early afternoon). A con: the cockroach infested house I walked into last week. I’m still having nightmares.
As much as I love being a nurse, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t get tired of it from time to time. It’s a really stressful job, and I crave the opportunity to decompress and take advantage of my other passions in life. I suppose that’s where this blog comes in – it gives me a creative outlet completely separate from nursing where I can have fun with things I love. When you love fashion as much as I do, it can be a real bummer to have to wear scrubs every day of your life and never have the opportunity to wear the beautiful clothing, shoes, and accessories you have. I mean, it’s meant to be worn, right? Sadly mine sits in the closet more than it makes an appearance out.
I think that’s why I loved these shoots with TJMaxx so much. To be given the opportunity to style over 10 outfits that represent me and my way of life was such a blessing to this overtired, overworked nurse/mom. It gave me the chance to just be me!
This look represents what I would wear if I actually had an office job (sadly leopard heels are not acceptable in my line of work, haha). These slouchy trousers are making their second appearance here (you can see the first featured look here), and I love how they add some flair to a traditional office look. This outfit is simple and not overdone, perfect for the working woman who wants to look stylish yet appropriate at the office!
Speaking of work, I am officially no longer working full time, which is a huge step for me. While I only cut back by one day, any extra day off is one I can devote to favorite job….mom. 🙂
