Beauty // How To Get Four Days From One Hairstyle February 1, 2016
As a mom of now two, I’m still blown away by the changes our family just experienced. The shift from no kids to one kid was quite an adjustment – learning how to still be me and make time for myself all while giving my full self to my little love. I like to apply makeup daily, have my hair at least presentable, take a nice hot shower, and have my nails painted. I realize these things aren’t important in the grand scheme of things, but they make me feel like ME and ready to take on the day. So I made it a point to find time every day to allow myself to primp to some extent. I have no shame in that, we all have our things as moms! But with two kids, it’s only gotten harder, so I’ve been working on ways to shorten my primp time in the mornings. One huge change? I don’t wash my hair everyday. I wash it MAYBE twice a week.
This may sound gross to some, but it’s cut down significant time for me and also has improved the quality of my hair. My hair stylist even comments that my hair looks healthier and less dull. My split ends are minimal and it FEELS healthy…probably because I’m not using heat tools every day. I also know I’ll probably go through that postpartum hair fall out again very shortly, so anything to keep my hair as healthy as possible is important at this moment!

The night before starting this series of photos, I washed and conditioned my hair. I’m currently still using Living Proof’s Perfect Hair Day Shampoo & Conditioner, but Pureology’s Hydrate Shampoo and Conditioner will always be my favorite. I’m switching back to that soon.
I then let my hair air dry. I really don’t ever use a blow dryer and would be totally fine not owning one! Since having my son, my hair dries pretty much straight with only some frizz in the front. When I wake up in the morning, I simply make sure my part is where it should be and I’m good to go.
Day 1: Curl your hair using a curling iron (no greater than 1″) or a curling wand. I love my Hot Tools Curling Wand. I curl all of my hair away from my head, always, so they’re all going the same direction. I do not apply product to my hair day 1!
Day 2: I usually sleep with my hair in a really loose ponytail so that in the morning it’s not a total frazzled mess! Day 2 is simple, I don’t touch anything! The waves have fallen out a little bit but I actually love how this looks more than day 1. If my roots are greasy, I’ll apply a dry shampoo. But they’re usually not greasy on day 2! If there’s any frizz or flyaways, I use my beloved Orofluido Elixir.
Day 3: Okay now things are getting a liiiiiittle greasy. I’ll definitely apply some of my favorite dry shampoo, Lulu Organics Hair Powder, on day 3. to get the most out of it. If it’s too flat, I’ll tease my roots a little or maybe touch up some fallen curls with the curling wand.
Day 4: Top knot day! This is the last day before I wash my hair, so I’ll put in a little more dry shampoo and throw it on top of my head. I’ll also add a cute hair wrap for something extra.
And that’s it! Honestly, since doing this regularly, I’ve gotten to the point where day 1 feels like a total burden! I would much rather prefer day 2 hair at all times. Even if your hair is extra greasy and you can’t make it to day 4, cutting back on the use of hot tools in general can really help the quality of your hair.
Hope this helps speed up your morning routine!

Love this post, I follow almost the same routine. I believe that my hair is healthier for it as well. And I would skip day 1 hair if possible.
