Favorite Hair Care Products January 21, 2014
I’ve been asked for hair product recommendations from a few people lately, so I thought i’d share my all time favorites with you today. I’m pretty picky about what I use, mainly because I find that cheap products just don’t work with my thick, heavy hair. Lately, my hair has been falling out so badly (<—#thingstheydonttellyouafterlabor), so I’ve been trying to be extra gentle with it. During the week, I haven’t been using my curling iron and I’ve been washing it every other day. I also switched up my shampoo to help it heal.
So if you’re looking for some new products, here are my recommendations!
One: L’Anza Keratin Healing Oil Shampoo/Conditioner. This stuff. Is. Amazing. Recommended by my hair stylist, it’s truly changed the way my hair feels and looks. It’s softer, smoother, and not nearly as frizzy as it used to be. You only need a little bit, so it lasts a while too. This is pretty expensive in salons, but I found it for cheap on Amazon! (Seriously, it was double the price at my salon).
Two: Soft Hair Ties. I use these at night to wear my hair up when I sleep. It helps me get another day out of my style, and I don’t end up with those dumb hair tie creases from regular elastics. I bought mine off Etsy (search for twist bands or soft hair ties), but I’m pretty positive you can get them anywhere. Here I linked to ones from Sephora.
Three: Kenra Root Lifting Spray. I received a sample of this while buying number six, and I love it. I am not very good at back combing my hair, plus I don’t want to damage it more than it already is by doing so. This stuff gives the right amount of lift at the roots, without the damage, so your hair doesn’t look flat and lifeless. And you only need a couple of sprays, so it lasts a while!
Four: LuLu Organics Hair Powder. I pretty much hate all dry shampoos. I feel like none actually do what they claim, and my hair still ends up feeling super greasy. Which is probably why I could never go more than a day without washing my hair. Until now. This stuff has made me a day 2 or day 3 hair gal. I just rub some powder on my roots, and it immediately soaks up any oil and adds a fresh lavender scent to my hair. Plus, it blends in really easily and doesn’t leave white powder patches in your hair. Cause who wants that?
Five: Orofluido. I. Love. This. Stuff. Way more than the Moroccan Oil everyone loves. I don’t have an explanation for it, but this stuff just WORKS. It leaves my hair shiny, supple, soft, and perfect. I use it when my hair is wet, and a little again after I style to seal the deal. It’s wonderful, and probably my most recommended hair product.
Six: Kenra Volume Spray #25. This is the best hairspray ever. It’s won a million beauty awards, and I can see why. Yes, it’s a little pricey for hairspray, but every time I decide I can get away with some crap from Walgreens and then my hair looks awful, I kick myself and go fork over the cash for the good stuff.

Do you use any of these products yourself? Or do you know of something better? Leave a comment with some details! 🙂

Isn’t that dry shampoo the best stuff ever?? It’s te only one I’ve had any success with. Also Kenra makes a great blow dry spray that reduces the time it takes to blow dry your hair. I have super thick hair so it saves me like 10 minutes!

Thank you for this list – I love all your beauty tutorials! Ever since finding your perfect beachy waves tutorial, I’ve finally figured out how to do them. 🙂 Second, please don’t apologize for being MIA – you don’t owe anyone an explanation…you’re working, and you’re a wife and mama! That in and of itself if more than a full time venture! all the best!
