Okay people. I feel like I probably should’ve posed this question PRIOR to completing my registry (which is just about done, and miraculously there’s hair left on my head) but better late than never, right?? Plus, it’s like baby boom 2013 around here so I’m sure many of my first time mommy friends would be interested in knowing this bit of information as well.
There are SO many things I’m realizing I need for baby. And so many things that actually may be just crap. Now, I fully understand….everyone’s homes are set up differently and children are different creatures in themselves, so what might work for some may not work for all.
But tell me…..what are the products you would never purchase/register for again? And why? Leave your answers in a comment, and I’ll feature some of them on our Facebook page!

I’d never buy a crib bedding set. Bumpers are a huge no no (in my opinion) and they totally rip you off price wise. Just buy a crib skirt and crib sheets and you’re set.
I’d never buy wipe Warmers or a diaper genie. At least in my house, the trash goes out daily so totally a waste of money.
The Diaper genie was a joke, and the wipe warmer just dried up all my wipes.
All of it! lol Seriously, the majority of the things you think you need, you won’t use AT ALL. Five hundred receiving blankets? Really? The only thing you NEED is a car seat and a stroller. And a bed. Our third is one, and it’s amazing how much stuff you realize you don’t need after the first one. Our boppy is gettin’ round three of use, so that’s a handy gadget if you plan on nursing.
Your nursery is SO BEAUTIFUL by the way. I love, love, love it.
The nursery actually isn’t ours! It’s a picture I grabbed during my Pinterest search 😉 But it IS so beautiful!
I was unhappy with my Lansinoh breast pump (double electric). The Medela is a better brand (in my opinion). Also, the Boppy nursing pillow was too rounded for us, my baby kept rolling into my tummy. I ended up just using a regular pillow. There are some firmer nursing pillows that might work better. That’s my two cents – good luck!
there isn’t the ones i wouldn’t purchase as much as the i would WAIT to purchase. Some babies can be picky with types of binkies. I would get the hospital ones and maybe one kind for before the baby and then buy whatever after. The same with bottles. I wouldn’t stock up on a huge amount of one kind. Buy one type and see how the baby does. They might hate it, love it, or be whatever about it. The same thing goes for swaddling blankets, types of diapers (there are SO many chemicals in the regular brands and if your baby has sensitive skin you mighthave to switch to all natural), swings/rockers/bouncers (some babies thrive off of them and some babies will scream the entire time)… and probably other things I might think of later. I would save all my gift cards for after the baby to buy those certain things. Or just keep things in the boxes with the receipts if someone bought it for me, try it out and return r exchange if I had to.
One thing I found to be a waste was the big clunky tubs for a baby, I have a tiny hammock one for when the baby is so itsy bitsy, but after that they sit in the bumbo or come in the shower with me. 🙂
oh yes, definitely no diaper specific trash cans. such a waste to me. you can buy scented/odor blocking baggies to just throw the diapers in the trash.
I think it all depends on the baby. For my first daughter, she literally peed like a boy every time you changed her diaper, so we got a wipe warmer, and it was great. It’s sitting on my second daughter’s changing table right now with no wipes in it. My first daughter never took a pacifier, and my second daughter will only take one type.
I can’t really think of anything we absolutely didn’t use though.
