Fall Wardrobe Essentials 2015

As much as I don’t want summer to be over, it’s inevitable here in New England. Pumpkin spice lattes, mums, and pumpkins of all varieties are out everywhere, reminding me that summer is basically over. Our summers are way too short here in CT, which is probably why I have such a hard time accepting that it’s ending! But we do have a beautiful fall season, which I love equally as much….I just don’t like what comes after that! Anyway, I’ve been stocking up on some fall wardrobe essentials seeing as cooler weather is right around the corner, and it’s time that you should too! Here are my fall wardrobe essentials for 2015. I’ve included some pieces you’ll be seeing here on the blog as well.

Lace-up flats (exact, similar, similar): You’ve seen them everywhere, and yours truly owns two pairs herself! This is one trend I can’t say no to because they’re so classic! I currently own this pair and this pair, but here is a more wallet-friendly version as well. As a mom, flats are my BFF, so I love when I find a little fancier of a pair than just your basic plain flat. You definitely want these in your closet this season.

Ponchos (exact, similar): This is a trend that’s been around for some time, and I pray it never leaves. I absolutely love being able to throw a poncho over my outfit as opposed to carrying around a heavy jacket. They’re the perfect layering piece and can be styled with a variety of outfits from jeans and dresses to skirts. This one is a super cute option, too!

Backpacks (exact, similar): I’ve yet to purchase mine, but I love the backpack trend. I’m one who always carries a large purse, but a cute handbag isn’t always feasible with a toddler. I love the hands-free ability with a backpack, and there are some SERIOUSLY cute ones this season. I’ve had my eyes set on this one for quite some time now because I love the added fringe!

Anything fringe (exact, similar): Fringe has been all over the NYFW runways, which means it’s here to stay for upcoming seasons! So don’t be afraid to invest in a few fringe-y pieces for your fall wardrobe. I love this fringe bag and these fringe booties, which have made their way into my closet. They’re also pieces that can be worn through multiple seasons, which is key for trend items.

Over the knee boots (exact, similar): I could live with summer forever, but if there’s one thing I love about fall it’s that I get to wear my favorite over the knee boots again! You know the ones…they can still be purchased here, and you do NOT want to miss out on them (currently on SALE!)! Over that knee boots have yet to go out of style, not to mention they’re insanely warm, so I highly recommend considering them for your fall closet. They are incredibly versatile, and also look great with the ponchos I mentioned before 😉

Distressed denim (exact, similar): This goes without saying, but distressed denim will never be out of style. My must-haves for distressed denim include a pair of skinnies and boyfriend jeans. I love skinnies to wear with heels or boots, and boyfriend jeans for flats and booties. I just purchased this pair and this pair, which are more inexpensive and wallet-friendly, but I also love my Joe’s Jeans distressed skinnies as well (they feel like butter, literally). If you can, it’s always great to invest in ONE nice pair of jeans. It’s incredible how different the fabric and fit is. Hopefully I can fit back into mine quickly after this baby, and that I didn’t just shoot myself in the foot by buying my pre-pregnancy size! 😉
