How To: Get a Pottery Barn Inspired Christmas Tree

You already know my love for Pottery Barn. I mean, who doesn’t? Well except Phoebe on Friends…

Rachel: “..because Phoebe hates Pottery Barn.”
Ross: “SHE HATES POTTERY BARN?!?!?!?!”

Seriously, Ross. Who doesn’t like Pottery Barn? There is something for everyone to love! There are modern, traditional, vintage, and contemporary pieces. If I could, I would own the entire store. Except some things are way too expensive that can be made for a heck of a lot cheaper. But still, I love when that catalog arrives in the mail and I can recreate some of their designs in my home. Yes, I try hard to live my life out of a Pottery Barn catalog. Don’t judge me.

Rachel: “Ross, get over it it’s not like she hates you!”
Ross: “Yeah, but POTTERY BARN!”

(I may or may not have an obsession with Friends by the way. Obsession as in, if they wanted to recreate the seasons they might as well just hire me because I can recite each episode line by line. Sad, I know. Oh and Phoebe actually begins to love Pottery Barn at the end of this episode.)

Anyways…….

Last Christmas I tried to be the cute little wifey who wants her husband to help her decorate the tree while sipping hot cocoa and listening to our country Christmas music cd. Well, that didn’t last because the hubby got frustrated and decided he would just “watch” me put the tree up. So this year, I spent the morning decking the halls while hubs was at work. He doesn’t have to help decorate + I get the tree to look exactly how I want it = the best of both worlds. 🙂 And this year, it’s going to be Pottery Barn inspired.

Pottery Barn’s Christmas decor is ah-may-zing this year. And right up my ally. One of their lines is all vintage silver and mercury glass, another has German glitter glass ornaments and sheet music!  Look at how beautiful:

Gorgeous, yes. But not in my budget.  So, a while back I bought myself some sheet music and German glass glitter so I can DIY my way to a Pottery Barn inspired Christmas Tree!

Here’s what you need:
silver, gold, and lime green glass ball ornaments
sheet music
German glass glitter
burlap
anything else silver and gold!

I already had the silver, gold, and lime green glass ornaments from the previous year, and I made some sheet music ornaments that you saw in my sheet music ornament post. I also bought some card stock dove shapes from Michael’s (99 cents!) that I wanted to cover in sheet music and German glitter to add some whimsical feel. I already had burlap fabric, so I cut it into strips to use as a garland on the tree.  And to add a little coastal touch, I hot glued ornament hooks to some of my pencil starfish to hang on the tree! I also bought our very first tree topper this year from Tar-jay (Target) that is a pretty silvery snowflake star. Target is awesome. Fashionable and inexpensive. I love it. Oh and I used white lights. Most of Pottery Barn’s trees have white lights, and I’m really not a fan of colored.

The halls still aren’t completely decked around here…but at least gift wrapping can commence! Wrapping gifts is my favorite part of Christmas because I love getting creative with the wrapping. When I was younger,  my mom made our gifts looked so beautiful you didn’t even want to open them! But that’s for a future post…
