I realize I haven’t posted ONE thing about Landon’s nursery. Shame. On. Me. It’s probably because it’s not fully complete to my standards yet, although what’s left is so minor in the grand scheme of things (hanging his hand-made mobile, getting a new lamp for his side table). Anyways, one of my favorite parts of his room is the changing table I created from an old antique dresser.
You know I’m big on DIY everything, and I was really set on having a DIY nursery. I find it cuts costs and allows for a more “collected” feel. I found this dresser on Craigslist for $50 (obviouslyyyyy, I have no before picture. I mean really, when will I learn?!) from a sweet older lady who was moving. She seemed a little surprised when I told her my plans for the piece, but I’m sure if she could see it now she would appreciate it’s beauty.
I primed and painted the base Sherwin William’s Creamy and the drawers Blue Hubbard (colors I already had in my paint “vault”). Once complete, I distressed the edges where it would naturally distress over time. I think distressing really brings life to a piece like this because it accentuates the curves and detail work. For the knobs and drawer pulls, I simply used a piece of rope (which I already had) and some hot glue. I was so impressed by the beachy, nautical feel when it was finished!
All in all, the piece cost me $50. Which is the most money we’ve put towards an item that was not gifted to us in the nursery. 🙂

That is an incredible score and great end result! Love the vintage, beachy feel! I hunted for our vintage dresser for months and it was not even this close of a a deal! Fabulous job mama!
