Nursery Inspiration – Girl January 23, 2013
No no, we don’t know what we’re having yet. But that doesn’t mean I can’t start planning right?
Since getting Ammo my love for DIY and home decor has fallen slightly by the wayside…mainly because I didn’t see a point when I had a ruthless, teething puppy running around everywhere. Well, at this point he is much better behaved (thank GOD) and my DIY/decorating skills can return. Starting with the nursery.
I’ve been browsing Pinterest for nursery inspiration (like any expectant mother in 2013 is!) and I’ve been drooooooooling over some of the ideas I’ve come across. I thought I’d share so you can see where my head is at for nursery decor, and so you can drool along with me. Today I’ll be showing you my inspiration for a baby girl, and later this week I’ll share for a baby boy! Here we gooooo!
I love the style of this crib, and have already found one exactly like it. I also love the white bedding, and plan on having a white linen crib skirt (ruffly for a girl!) and bumpers regardless of the sex of the baby. White is timeless and classic, and can go with any decor I may decide to incorporate into baby’s room. I also love the addition of burlap to add a rustic feel, so I plan on incorporating that somehow. A friend of mine gave me the 411 on a fabric that is the same color of burlap but less harsh/shedd-y, if you know what I mean. Ever buy some burlap from the fabric store and walk out looking like you just rolled around in hay? Yeah, no good for baby.
I really love the collected feel of this nursery…it looks like each decor piece has some story behind it and was perfectly selected to fit in its spot. I would love to incorporate that same feeling somehow in baby’s room.
I love the color palette of this room…white, light gray and light turquoise. So calming and peaceful…a nice retreat when rocking baby to sleep (or trying!) This could work for a little boy too, maybe with some nautical decor (you know my love for the beach!).
I’ve been on the search for a vintage dresser to repaint and make to my liking for a changing table. I love how this one is set up, and I already have some fun vintage accessories that would be a perfect fit.
This is probably my favorite picture I’ve found. I LOVE the pops of color with the decor and changing table, which I know can easily be done to a white room. I also love the vintage baskets on the wall, and the cute scale hanging from the ceiling. I own one very similar. π
But then again, I also really love this next room. Something about the mixture of bright colors….so fun and bright!
Okay so really, I guess I’m all over the place with my inspiration aren’t I? Mama better make up her mind soon, cause we are almost halfway there! Boy nursery inspiration to come later this week!

very cute love!! looking forward to your boy inspiration bc it will without a doubt inspire me! π
thanks girl! it will be up later this week! π
I am loving everything you are finding!!! I don’t know how you are going to be able to decide!! So many different directions to go all with the same color palette in mind! π xoxo
I just can’t wait to know so I can start decorating! π
Cute rooms, but just a few cautionary notes…Crib bumpers are no longer recommended unless they are the mesh “breathable bumpers” and that garland hanging along the side of the crib is adorable but will quickly become a strangulation risk, just as cords from blinds on a window next to the crib would be. Make sure you think of all the risks involved in any decor choices. Good luck!
I appreciate your concerns Janice! As a registered nurse, I am VERY much aware of the latest MD recommendations for little ones! As I stated, these are just inspiration pictures….of course safety risks will be considered prior to choosing any decor. π
